Another Update on My Book Preston

By Andy Heath

In the book Preston, you'll be glad to know that I have made quite a bit of progress this weekend. I have now finished almost 37,000 words of the book, and I am hoping it will be around 80,000, so I am about halfway through with the rough draft. Again, I would like to have the rough draft completed by the end of June 2009, and at the pace I've been working this weekend, I think that's a very doable goal.

I've found some interesting surprises in the book, which I'm very glad about. I've even found that there are quite a few things to add that I didn't think about before. I'm also glad, however, that the book is largely going in the direction that I originally planned, so I'm still using the story boarding that I created. I've just found it has been necessary to move a few things around as well as add some things. It's going to be an interesting journey. I have to admit that my favorite part of writing novels is editing them, and I will probably edit this one half to death. When I finish the rough draft, I will probably have an all night editing party at Waffle House where I go and spend the night editing until roughly 6 A.M. and manage to stay up all night by drinking coffee.

If you're not familiar with the book I'm writing, you may click here to learn more about it. Once I finish the rough draft, I will begin querying agents and publishers. Publishing a book is not easy, but it is very doable with enough persistence. I'm so excited about this book, and I think it will please half my readers and offend the other half.

It's true that Preston is certainly not the most inoffensive book that has ever been written, but the fact is that really good books will do some provoking and cause people to think. My favorite aspect of this book is that it's a statement. It's a very important statement about the life of gays in this country. I think most gay people will be able to relate to at least some aspects of the book, and I think most straight people, while finding it offensive, will be able to learn something from it.

Religion and Homosexuality - A Constant Struggle

For many years gays have struggled with the question of how to balance their homosexuality with their spirituality. Additionally, Christians often ask why gays would give up religion when they say Christianity does so much for everyone, even gays.

I recently finished writing a novel in which I attempt to answer that question. The book portrays a gay teenage boy who is highly religious and shows how he deals with his homosexuality in the face of his strong faith.

I am currently trying to have the book published. The writing in the book is far superior to what you will find on this site because the book attempts to explore themes that are even deeper and richer than what you will find at this site.
