I Have Finished Preston
By Andy Heath
I hope you'll all join me in celebrating that I have finished the second draft of Preston. In fact, I have sent a query letter to a number of literary agents asking if they would be interested in seeing the manuscript. The process of publishing a book is often a long one, and often writers like myself receive many more rejection letters than requests for a full manuscript. Regardless, I'm taking a moment to enjoy the fact that I have finished the book, put it through a revision, written my query letter template, and written the synopsis.
I still need to submit the book to a copyeditor for proofreading, but I have a few people in mind that I'm going to ask, and we will see if they're interested in doing that work for me. Let me tell you, I am quite excited about having finished this work. I am also, however, a little sad. I really came to enjoy the characters and to connect with them. Still, I am glad to be at a point where I can try to get this book published, and God willing, it will happen in the next year (yes, it DOES often take that long).
I have given some thought to posting the synopsis online, but it has so many spoilers in it - as s synopsis must have when submitting to literary agents and publishers - that I feel that would not be in the best interest of this blog's readers. I am, however, thinking about revising the synopsis to be something that you might read and not spoil the story for you. So we will see.
Thanks to all of you that have written me in support of this blog, as I could not do this work without you. I hope you will enjoy the book at the point when I am able to convince a publisher to put it into print.
