Trying to Change Gays to Heterosexuals Is Wrong

Why is it wrong? For one thing, it's impossible. Once you are gay, you are gay for ever.
You can go to a mental health facility where they subject you to electroshock therapy every time you look at a picture of a naked person of your own sex and you will still be gay. You can pray and keep all night vigils and beg for God and Jesus and Buddha and whoever is on shift that night to change you, and you will still be gay. You can be subjected to inhumane torture that was used during the European inquisitions and you will still be gay. You can deny you're gay and you'll still be gay. You can die of old age or of anything else and you will still be gay. You cannot change this. You simply cannot.
So when people give you all kinds of ludicrous ideas about how you can pray or fast or flog your flesh and chant or sing or check into the psych ward, rest assured neither these ideas, nor any others, will work. Once you are gay, you are gay forever.
Maybe you're born gay because your parents hold a recessive gene. Maybe your older sister dressed you up in her clothes when you were two and now you're traumatized and that's why you're gay. Maybe God is mad at your eternal soul and that's why you're gay. Maybe you're a man trapped in a woman's body or a woman trapped in a man's body and that's why you're gay. Maybe you're gay because you're not good enough, or you're too good, or you're an excellent artist, or you're destined to work in the fashion industry. For whatever reason, the simple fact remains that once you're gay, you're gay. That's it.
I am surprised at the number of people I have met that do not believe this. I once had a high school friend that told me that gay men had ovaries and that once the ovaries were removed, the patient is "cured." That same friend also told me that there was a pill a gay person could take to become straight (I know that's not true; I asked me shrink when I was 15).
I personally believe that engaging in exercises in futility is not just a waste of time, but it's wrong. There are so many more interesting and useful things to do… like fill up a garden well with an eyedropper for example.
Gay people do not need these well meaning morons to give us a pseudo education on homosexuality and how to get rid of it as if it were a bad case of lice. We don't need Christians telling us we're demon possessed or that we need to pray. What we need, like everyone else, is love an acceptance. That is the best thing you can do for your gay friends. Don't try to change them. Just accept them… accept US.
